Where: State House, Montpelier, VT

Focus of the Day

Multiple sectors are joining the efforts of Suicide Prevention in VT.

Agenda

9:30 am - Coalition members meet in the Cafeteria for materials

9:45am- Distribution of carnations & materials to House Representatives as they enter the House Chamber

10:00 am - House Resolution and Recognition on the House Floor
House Resolution focus on Suicide Prevention interdisciplinary efforts in VT and Recognition of the VT Suicide Prevention Coalition

11:45 am - Testimony with the Senate Health and Welfare Committee

12:00 pm - Individual lunch appointments with your local Legislators This is a chance to advocate Suicide Prevention as a priority and educate your Legislator that suicide is a public health issue in VT. Make these appointments now. We will share talking points, facts sheets, etc. for your meeting. See link below to "Find your local Legislator". E-mail nicole@healthandlearning.org if you have a lunch meeting confirmed.

Purpose of the Day

To create awareness and support among legislators and other key stakeholders to make suicide prevention and mental health promotion a priority across Vermont.

VTSPC will provide you with talking points, stats, etc. for your lunch meeting with your local Legislator.

VT-SPC's Mission
To create health promoting communities in which schools, Institutions of Higher Education, public and private agencies and people of all ages have the knowledge, attitudes, skills, and resources to reduce the risk for suicide.
