The Vermont Recovery Coach Academy is designed for individuals interested in providing evidence-based supports for people in recovery from substance use disorders. This certification is popular with peers (individuals with lived experience) but is also open to friends, family members, allies, and clinicians.

The role of the Certified Recovery Coach (CRC) reflects a collaborative and strength-based approach, with the primary goal being to assist individuals in achieving sustained recovery from the effects of substance use disorders. CRCs are not clinicians; they serve in a supportive role within the community and/or treatment setting. They do not replace other professional services; they complement the existing array of support services. The CRC is not a twelve-step sponsor, case manager, or a therapist, but rather a role model, mentor, advocate and motivator. Services provided by the CRC are geared to substantially improve an individual’s ability to sustain recovery and wellness.

A number of full scholarships are available! Please contact Melissa Story, Director of Training and Leadership, for more information: or go to our website to sign up!
