Murder in the Vermont Woods (Online Lecture) – JUNE 8 AT 7PM

Join VCPI on Tuesday, June 8 at 7pm for “Murder in the Vermont Woods: A Story About Race, Class, and Gender in the 19th Century.” Discover the story of an Indigenous man from southern New England who came to central Vermont during the late 19th century and was the victim of a murder. This online program recreates community connections in a rural Vermont hill town. It is a story about poverty, racism, disability, and gendered violence against women, but is also a story about Indigenous movement and choice despite great obstacles.

Jill Mudgett is a cultural historian with an interest in the connection between the people and the environment of northern New England.
