Resources for Women’s History Month

Every March since 1981 we celebrate Women’s History Month and this year’s theme is Women Who Advocate for Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion.

In addition, here in Vermont Town Meeting Day also falls in March. Here are some resources on the history of the suffragists movement:

·       League of Women Voter of Vermont – learn more about registering in Vermont and about your local elections. You can find additional info on the VT Secretary of State website

·       20(+) Suffragists to Know from the National Park Service. 

·       Shall Not Be Denied: Women Fight for the Vote from the Library of Congress. 

·       Five You Should Know: African American Suffragists from the National Museum of African American History & Culture.  

·       Woman Suffrage and the 19th Amendment from the National Archives.

VTSU is also hosting multiple exhibitions:  

·     Libraries at each VTSU campus will have displays for Women’s HistoryMonth. They also have an online display

·       Virtual: the Office of DEISJ has a virtual display this month highlighting women who have fought uplifted DEISJ through their work fighting for women’s rights, racial justice, disability rights, and LGBTQ+ rights.
